Mayor Julián Castro is throwing his political weight behind Christus Santa Rosa Health System’s planned Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.

The mayor says the hospital’s $135 million transformation aligns with his SA 2020 vision for downtown revitalization.

Leaders from Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, Baylor College of Medicine and Christus Santa Rosa President and CEO Patrick Carrier will hold a news conference on Friday to disclose details on the next phase of the construction project.

Last month, Christus named San Antonio-based Bartlett Cocke General Contractors as construction manager for the downtown hospital project. Christus is converting its downtown hospital into a 415,000-square foot world-class facility for pediatric medicine.
